2026 Kickoff: The ABM Commitments Every Team Member Owes The Team
Murrayvince · August 27, 2026 · 3 min read
New year, clean board.
We don’t need slogans — we need the first plays that move meetings, commitment to the team and our objective business focused cross functional revenue goals, next steps, and revenue.
Continuously improving revenue throughout the year.
ABM is a team sport.
At our company, here are the top three things each function will do (and report on) to start 2026 strong.
Sales
Short list: Confirm the +1-fit account list and name the buying groups. No tourists.
Momentum discipline: Every meeting ends with a dated next step and owner. No “circle back.”
Speed: <5-minute human response to high-intent during business hours.
Marketing
Decision Kits by account: one problem • one promise • one proof (one-pager, mini case, 90-sec screen share, ROI one-pager, pilot plan, security/legal FAQ).
Buyer-enablement pages: publish “How We Work” and “For Finance” with plain-English payback.
Signals, not vanity: instrument Template→Meeting and Meeting→Next Step; kill click theater.
Operations
Service proof: publish parts fill-rate, response SLAs, and implementation timeline by segment.
Pilot logistics: 30–60 day pilot playbook with owners, risks, and mitigations.
Friction removal: prebuilt onboarding checklists to cut time-in-stage.
Business Development
Cadenced outreach: 12–15 quality touches/account, role-based lines, consistent story.
Multithread early: secure ≥3 buyer roles by meeting two (User/Manager, Finance, Security/Procurement).
Clean handoffs: update CRM with message sent, proof shared, and the next dated step.
Finance
Payback math: standard ROI inputs, ranges, and a one-page defense for champions.
Guardrails: define CAC↔︎CLV thresholds and acceptable payback windows by segment.
Weekly lens: join the Friday huddle; flag p75 stalls and surface pricing/package tests.
Sales Engineers
90-second “show me” demos: problem → outcome in under a minute and a half.
Proof library: role-specific screenshots, configs, and outcome snippets by industry.
De-risk early: security/architecture answers published before they’re asked.
Customer Service / Success
Reference wins: two mini cases per vertical with one metric and one quote.
Adoption checkpoints: success milestones for pilots and first 90 days.
Voice of customer loop: feed objections, usage, and surprise wins into content and outreach weekly.
Executive Sponsors
Access broker: 6-line notes to peer execs: one problem, one promise, one proof, one ask, one date, one owner.
Blocker removal: own legal/security/IT escalations inside the week.
Cadence champion: attend the Friday keep/cut/create; back budget moves in the room.
Team Scoreboard (review every Friday)
Template→meeting set rate
Meeting→next step rate
Time-to-first-meeting
Time-in-stage (median & p75)
Roles in meetings (≥3 early)
Win rate, pipeline velocity = opportunities × win rate × ACV ÷ cycle
Accountability: Each function posts these three commitments, owners, and dates. We keep what moved Template→Meeting or Meeting→Next Step, cut what didn’t, and create one test for next week. Budget follows what pays.
Here’s to a 2026 that’s simple, fast, and measurable — fit first, proof forwardable, and a pipeline that doesn’t surprise us.
